The Southern District Agricultural Show

Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July 2016

This year, the Southern District Agricultural Show will be held on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July at the beautiful Great Meadow Estate, in Castletown, home to the Show for over 40 years with the kind permission of Mr & Mrs R S D Riggall.

We are now 102 years young. The agricultural and rural focus of the Show remains its core theme and this continues to be the driving force behind its organisation. We are lucky to have the best of the Islands livestock, equine, canine, poultry and small animal exhibits on display at the Show, as well as farm and Garden produce, confectionery and crafts. The Trade and Catering platform is well established and many independent businesses can find an affordable way to trade and promote their business and local products.

Every effort is made to cater for the tastes and interests of the thousands of visitors that attend the event each year and our programme is constantly updated to reflect and respond to those interests.

Last year we had a weekend of extremes with a beautiful day on the Saturday and record crowds watching the Kermode family’s well earned success with their Suffolk ewe. Darren Jackson’s amazing sculpture of Turbo Tommy, the Centenary Show’s Supreme Champion went on display for the first time, and he will be back on display this year. We hope that he will soon be available for other events and for enquiries please contact the secretary or one of the Committee Members.

Sunday was a dramatic contrast with dismal weather, but the Show went on and the few that attended were gratefully welcomed!

Results for both the 2015 Show and the Christmas Primestock Show will be up soon and work is currently underway to develop this year’s Show. Information for Exhibitors, Traders, and Visitors will soon be available. Like our facebook page for up to date information, or use the contact details below.

Show opens 10am on Saturday and at 11am on Sunday.

Please contact the Secretary for further information.
